At Home with Amalie Gassmann
Filmmaker, photographer and creative director Amalie Gassmann has partnered with Westwing for the latest edition of its Homestory series, opening the doors to her thoughtfully curated London home - a space where creativity, storytelling and design come together.

Working closely with Amalie, Westwing introduced carefully selected pieces from their collection to complement her understated aesthetic and intuitive approach to interiors. Rooted in natural materials, tactile textures and considered forms, the collaboration enhances a home designed to inspire creativity while offering a calm retreat from the fast-paced nature of the city.
Having lived in Paris, Upstate New York, Los Angeles and now London, Amalie's home reflects the places, people and experiences that have shaped her creative perspective. Raised by artist parents, she was immersed in creativity from an early age, naturally gravitating towards filmmaking, where composition and storytelling remain at the heart of everything she does.

The living room sits at the heart of the home – a space designed as much for creative thinking as it is for unwinding. Anchored by the Sofia Modular Bouclé Sofa, the room layers sculptural lighting, plush cushions and tactile upholstery with carefully curated coffee table styling to create a sense of quiet warmth. Books, family heirlooms and collected treasures sit alongside Westwing's much-loved Lucien Handmade Marble Chess Game and sculptural decorative objects, bringing depth, personality and a lived-in quality that reflects Amalie's belief that every object should tell a story.
"In art, everything has a backstory, a reason and a process. That shapes everything in my life – and my home."
Flowing into the dining space, natural light and garden views create an inviting backdrop for one of Amalie's favourite rituals: hosting. Thoughtfully styled with understated decorative accents, contemporary Westwing Borosilicate Tableware and sculptural ceramics, the space reflects her love of composition, where minimalist foundations are elevated with fresh floral arrangements and subtle pops of colour to create beautifully curated tablescapes.
"Planning the composition of the table and how the evening is going to unfold is another creative outlet for me."

Throughout the home, Amalie balances minimalism with warmth, favouring timeless statement furniture enriched by meaningful details, tactile materials and subtle moments of colour. Accent tables, sculptural ceramics and carefully placed decorative objects create moments of interest throughout, while open shelving filled with books and personal mementos adds character and tells the story of her travels and heritage. In her dedicated workspace overlooking the garden, clean lines and thoughtful styling foster a calm, inspiring environment where ideas naturally take shape.
"Every object has to have its place, but within that I love adding colours, textures and interesting pieces that bring joy."
For Amalie, home is a welcome contrast to the pace of London and life on set. The garden offers a peaceful escape, while the interiors provide a sanctuary where creativity and everyday life naturally blend into one.
"To escape the busy appointments and being on set, I'm very happy to have a safe haven, which is my garden outside."
